The Microshift Acolyte Super Short Derailleur allows the Alpha Series bikes to use an 11-38t cassette. This gives 90% more gear range than other comparable bikes.
Microshift is the only drivetrain maker to focus on kids sized shifters. Easy-to-reach triggers and ultra-light shifting action make this the #1 shifter for kids.
Increasing the tire width to 2.1" will give trail explorers more traction when the path gets tough.
Short stems, handlebars sized to match shoulder width, easy-to-reach brakes, and a kid-friendly shifter. All features that give the rider control of their steed.
Low standover allowing young riders to get on a bigger wheel earlier. Bigger wheels roll faster, offer more traction, and roll over obstacles with less effort. Upright seating position with just enough weight over the front of the bike to maintain control and balance. A low center of gravity that's designed to keep the riders weight "in" the bike, rather than on top. Short chainstays keep the bike agile, while a slack front end keeps things stable at all speeds.
HEIR® cranks use specific lengths and widths to match young riders pedaling ergonomics. The Dual Alloy Chainguards keep the chain on in all terrain, while protecting the rider's pants from getting caught.
Getting your kids the right size bike is important and, fortunately, also easy. You just need two pieces of information about your little rider:
Children who are learning are more sensitive to bicycle height than children who already know how to ride a bike. If the rider is new we recommend erring on the side of a smaller bike. If the rider is experienced and confident, it is OK to err on the side of a larger bike.
We include ride age as guidance for our bikes as a quick reference. But because riders of the same age can have very different sizes, inseam is a more reliable size indicator than age.

The Alpha Four is perfect for our 7 yr old. He loves it and can grow with this bike. It was quick & easy to assemble. The majority of the bike was assembled in the box. We highly recommend Prevelo Bikes!
Quality is unmatched. Upon unboxing, we were presently surprised at the materials, finish, and ease of assembly. My 9-year-old took to the gears easily and said it rides beautifully. We will definitely be able to pass this down to our younger child!
I was amazed by the whole process. The Prevelo team was wonderfully prompt and responsive with all correspondence. Our Alpha 4 arrived much faster than I had anticipated and Wow! What a beautiful bike. The design is perfect for my daughter to be comfortable, in control, and inspired to ride! The bike is light enough for her to be able to control it easily, the shifting is so smooth and effective that she has rapidly learned to use the gears to conquer increasingly difficult terrain in a short time. It has been an amazing experience, I am so grateful that we purchased a Prevelo Bike!
My daughter, 9, immediately loved the Prevolo bike over many other options we looked at, as did I. Every part of the purchase was fantastic - from the notifications about order received, shipped, delivered, etc., to the FedEx details for us to track it in greater detail ourselves. The bike was packaged carefully and perfectly. The bike was set up excellently, so re-assembling it was trivially easy and hassle-free. Quality tools were included as well. Having the manual included in the package was wonderful, and being able to also easily find it online from the website was great. And the bike quality is OUTSTANDING. Everything seems well designed, engineered, well made, carefully assembled, thoughtfully packaged, etc. We are very happy customers! I'm now looking at purchasing a second Prevolo for my 6-year-old!
Got the same bike for my 7 year old as I have for my 10 year old (Alpha Four) because we love it so much. My daughter said "this bike is really good. I like this bike better than my old bike because the seat is really comfortable if you're riding a long distance. I think the size is really good and I really like the blue color because it's really shiny" (it IS an awesome blue)! Lightweight, gears are great for her and she figured them out right away and rode up a big hill... All in all an awesome purchase!
